Go on a tour through wonderful West Waterford on one of the ‘Bus Bia’ buses. Spend the morning visiting food producers throughout the region, finishing with lunch at a select destination. Buses depart from Shandon car park at 10am.

We invite you to follow the river to Knockanore and taste local cheeses on Lonergan’s Farm, ice cream at Baldwin’s Farm, then cross the Blackwater to Cappoquin and visit Barron’s Bakery where the 17th century scotch brick ovens are still in daily use. Your tour will finish here with a light lunch at the bakery.

The Blackwater
Explore the Blackwater Region where our first stop will be at Lismore Castle Gardens where head gardener Colm O Driscoll looks after the oldest continually cultivated gardens in Ireland. Then it’s onto Tallow to visit the Meadowfresh Food vegetable processing facility before carrying onto Ballyduff to visit the gorgeous distillery where you will take a tour and enjoy a delicious pop-up lunch.

Sustainability bus tour
Sustainability is an urgent issue for our future, but we also have a lot to learn from the past. Our first stop is at Garrai Mara, Ringville, where you will hear all about Mairead Costin’s fabulous organic vegetable growing business. Our second stop is to visit Olympian Walker and Farmer Jamie Costin on his large Dairy Farm. Jamie will talk to you about running a sustainable farm. The final stop is at the Co. Waterford Beekeepers Association Apiary in Ring, (Black Bee Apiaries) where Paddy and
James Moloney will talk about their bees and honey.
